Empowering a New Generation: The Move For Jenn Club Launches at Marvin Ridge High School

We’re thrilled to announce that a brand-new Move For Jenn Club has launched at Marvin Ridge High School in Marvin, North Carolina — and it’s already making a big impact!

Founded by Abbey Hinton, a driven and compassionate junior at Marvin Ridge, the Move For Jenn Club is the first of its kind, bringing the foundation’s mission of movement, awareness, and giving back directly into the school community.

“I got involved in Move For Jenn after meeting one of the board members and learning about Jenn’s story,” Abbey shared. “I had been looking for a volunteer opportunity, and when I met Jenn and interviewed with her, I was instantly excited about making an impact in this space that isn’t talked about that often.”

Abbey saw an opportunity to expand that impact by creating a team of student volunteers dedicated to supporting the foundation’s work and spreading awareness about sarcoma and the importance of movement. “At first, I was a little nervous to be leading an extension of such an impressive organization,” she said. “But I realized that this club is necessary — both for the foundation and for students who want to get involved in something meaningful.”

With more than 30 members and an incredible officer team —

  • Callie Johnston, Vice President

  • Cyra Aggarwal, Director of Community Service

  • Eshal Chowdhury, Director of Finance

  • Charlotte White, Director of Outreach

  • Manasi Iyer, Director of Events

  • Jiya Bhalodia, Director of Administration

— the Marvin Ridge High School Move For Jenn Club is already off to an inspiring start.

The club plans to host monthly fundraisers, awareness events, and community outreach initiatives throughout the year, with members also setting personal fundraising goals. “We truly want to create a community that works to support this deserving cause,” Abbey said. “We’re so grateful for the foundation’s support and hope the community will come alongside us too!”

Their first big fundraiser is right around the corner: a Chipotle Night on Tuesday, October 14th from 5–9 PM at the Waverly location. Anyone who shows the club’s poster (virtual or physical) or uses promo code NLLRDQB when ordering will help the club earn 25% of proceeds toward their Move For Jenn fundraising and outreach efforts.

The club is also staying true to the foundation’s mission of celebrating movement. Earlier this month, they hosted a Monthly Movement event by running a fun practice for the Marvin Ridge Middle School Field Hockey team — a perfect way to get active and connect with the heart of Move For Jenn.

Abbey and her team will continue sharing updates, fundraisers, and event info on Instagram at @moveforjenn_mrhs.

We’re beyond proud of Abbey and her incredible leadership — and we can’t wait to see the Marvin Ridge High School Move For Jenn Club continue to grow, inspire, and make a difference in their community and beyond.
