Meet Steth Monroe – Coach, Athlete, Advocate

Meet Steth Monroe – Coach, Athlete, Advocate...and Newest Member of the MFJ Board of Directors!

As many in the Charlotte community know, Steth Monroe (known on Instagram as @realcoachroe) is more than just a fitness coach—he’s a mentor, athlete, family man, and devoted supporter of causes close to his heart.

A Connection That Became Family

Steth’s relationship with the Move for Jenn Foundation began through his community ties. Kaitlyn Fournier, a soon-to-be freshman member of the UNCW track team and current #MFJSummerImpact Summer Intern, currently trains with Coach Roe.

About a month before Gracie, the daughter of our Board President, Jenny Sage, was diagnosed with sarcoma, Jenny was looking for someone to help continue her soccer training over the summer. She made a post in a local Facebook moms group—and that’s when fate stepped in. Kaitlyn’s mom responded, and soon, she and Gracie started training together.

Just a few weeks into that training, everything changed—Gracie was diagnosed with sarcoma. Through it all, Kaitlyn and her family were a constant source of love, strength, and support. What began as a training partnership quickly turned into something much deeper.

Today, Kaitlyn is like a big sister to Gracie, and their two families have become inseparable—bonded not only by soccer and training sessions, but by shared resilience and heart.

This connection is what first brought Coach Roe into the Move For Jenn community—and what continues to inspire his commitment to the cause.

When Coach Roe hosted a $1,000 giveaway for reaching 10,000 Instagram followers, Kaitlyn was chosen as the winner and generously chose to donate half of her winnings to the Move For Jenn Foundation. *Cue our tears.*

The power of community is so real and we are so grateful for the incredible people who continue to support our mission - Kaitlyn, Jenny, and Coach Roe included!

From Sponsor to Participant: Steth's Involvement

1. Pajamas All Day 5K Sponsor & Warm‑Up Leader

At the Foundation’s 2025 Pajamas All Day 5K—an event drawing over 900 attendees and raising nearly $100K—Steth played a dual role. As a sponsor, he helped fuel its success. As warm‑up leader, he energized the crowd with dynamic stretches and motivation. And in true Coach Roe style, he even ran his first-ever 5K that morning, embodying the #MoveBecauseYouCan mindset that he champions.

2. Move for Jenn Open Golf Tournament

Steth also stepped up on the green, participating in the 2025 Move for Jenn Open Powered by lululemon—an event that has raised more than $90K in its inaugural year and over $130K in 2025—to help fund activewear prosthetic grants. His competitive spirit and charitable drive made him a natural part of the day.

3. Intern Program Mentor

Beyond events, Steth has supported the Foundation’s #MFJSummerImpact intern program—sharing his experience in athletics, coaching, and event logistics. His mentorship helped interns gain real-world insights into nonprofit fundraising and community engagement along with the importance of following your heart.

Why Steth's Contribution Matters

Steth’s involvement isn’t just about sponsorship—it’s about authenticity:

  • Training connects him personally to the families he’s supporting as well as to the Move For Jenn mantra of Moving Because You Can.

  • Leading a warm-up and running his first race mirrors the journey of the Foundation’s athletes—stepping into new territory, motivated by heart and grit.

  • Playing golf and mentoring interns showcases his commitment to the behind-the-scenes work that makes these events possible.

What’s Next?

We are honored to welcome Coach Roe to the Move For Jenn Foundation Board of Directors, so keep an eye out for Steth at upcoming Move for Jenn events! Whether he’s guiding warm-ups, teeing off, or mentoring a new intern, his dedication keeps the movement going—one step, one swing, one activewear prosthetic grant at a time.
