Celebrating a Summer of Impact: The Inaugural #MFJSummerImpact Intern Program Comes to a Close

As August 10, 2025, marked the official close of our very first #MFJSummerImpact Teen Intern Program, we’re brimming with gratitude, pride, and excitement for what our 12 exceptional interns accomplished over these robust two months.

From Aspiring Teens to Advocacy Leaders

Launched June 8, 2025, the Move For Jenn Teen Ambassador initiative was designed to inspire rising high school juniors and seniors to become leaders, amplifiers, and agents of change within the Charlotte, NC, community and beyond. Over eight action-packed weeks, our interns did exactly that—and then some.

They joined forces with our Board of Directors, gaining hands-on leadership experience, raising sarcoma awareness, organizing events, and helping to create a powerful fundraising narrative in support of sarcoma research.

Community Engagement Juniors and seniors led outreach to local schools, businesses, and neighbors to spread sarcoma awareness and build momentum.
Storytelling Champions They used social media, blog posts, and creative collateral to share personal stories and the mission behind Move For Jenn.
Leadership in Action Collaborating with our board members, and outstanding members of our community, interns gained real-world organizational insights, event planning skills, and advocacy tools.


A Bold Beginning—and the Road Ahead

This summer isn't just a chapter in Move For Jenn’s story—it marks the launch of a lasting legacy. The foundational success of this inaugural cohort gives us great confidence in expanding the intern program, inviting more youth to become local ambassadors and advocates for sarcoma research.

"I wanted to join this program so that I could make a real impact in the community over the course of the summer, and this program certainly helped me achieve that goal. I really enjoyed talking to real-life business professionals, as hearing a diverse group of people share their paths into the business world was interesting and helpful for me. Hearing stories of people with sarcoma, the people who we're trying to help through funding, was also very inspiring. Furthermore, I think that the inclusion of activities outside of a dinner conversation made the experience much more immersive than other intern programs. Overall, both the impact our team made on sarcoma research and the business knowledge I gained from the internship were very valuable for my personal and professional development."
