An Update from Move For Jenn Grant Recipient and Parasnowboarder, Rebecca
Remember Move For Jenn grant recipient, Rebecca Johnston? In 2020, we were able to surprise Rebecca with an activewear prosthetic grant that would help her snowboard, ski, wakeboard, and waterski.
In May of 2022, we checked back in with Rebecca on IG Live to learn more about her Paralympic journey. YEAH! Paralympic journey!
Most recently Rebecca shared the following with us:
"As of November 1st, I moved out to Salt Lake City, Utah to begin training with Team Utah, a snowboarding program. I also got a job at Pit Viper, so I plan to work full-time there while training and travelling for snowboarding competitions.
This week, I'm headed to the Move United Ski Spectacular event in Breckenridge, CO where I will be attending a race camp and getting to network with other adaptive athletes and coaches.
Then later in December, I'll be travelling with my team to Big White in British Columbia for IPC classification and a NORAM banked slalom race.
In January, I will be travelling with my team to Finland for a EuropaCup snowboardcross race, then immediately afterwards to Spain for World Championships if I end up qualifying!
It's going to be an awesome journey getting to experience my rookie season as a parasnowboarder and I'm excited to compete in my first races."
We are so proud of you, Rebecca!
