Play It Forward: Marvin Ridge Students Bring Movement to Life

At the Move For Jenn Foundation, our mission is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: move because you can. Recently, the Marvin Ridge High School Move For Jenn Club brought that message to life in an inspiring way through their Play It Forward Camp.

Designed with both impact and intention, the camp welcomed local elementary schoolers for a day centered around movement, skill-building, and fun. While the club initially explored the idea of hosting a mini running event, they ultimately leaned into a skills-based camp model after seeing the success of similar programs led by Marvin Ridge athletic teams. The result was a thoughtfully planned experience that connected kids to sports in an engaging and accessible way.

Throughout the day, participants rotated through stations where 

they were introduced to a variety of sports, including field hockey, lacrosse, golf, track and field, and cheer. In between skill sessions, the group came together for high-energy games like soccer, basketball, and tag, creating the perfect balance of structured learning and free play. Snack breaks and rest time ensured everyone stayed energized and ready to participate.

The camp hosted 15 young participants, supported by an incredible group of student volunteers who led each activity with enthusiasm and care. Beyond learning the fundamentals of different sports, the day offered something deeper. Kids gained confidence trying new activities, while volunteers stepped into leadership roles and experienced the joy of giving back to their community.

At its core, Play It Forward was about more than just sports. It was about creating a space where everyone involved could grow. Whether that meant developing a new skill, building friendships, or contributing to something bigger than themselves, the impact was felt by all.

The Marvin Ridge Move For Jenn Club set out to create an event that would be meaningful, inclusive, and fun and they delivered on every level. Their passion and dedication are a true reflection of the Move For Jenn mission, and we are incredibly grateful for their efforts.

We cannot wait to see how this event continues to grow in the years ahead. With hopes of making Play It Forward Camp an annual tradition, the future is bright and full of movement.
