Sarcoma Awareness Month 2026: How You Can Help Move For Jenn Fight Sarcoma and Give the Gift of Movement

Every July, we recognize Sarcoma Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shining a light on a rare cancer that impacts thousands of children and adults each year.
Sarcoma is a rare group of cancers that can develop in the bones or soft tissues, including muscle, fat, blood vessels, nerves, tendons, and other connective tissues. Because sarcoma is rare, it is often referred to as the “forgotten cancer.” But for the patients, survivors, families, caregivers, and medical teams facing it every day, sarcoma is never forgotten.
At the Move For Jenn Foundation, sarcoma awareness is deeply personal.
Our mission began with Jenn Andrews, who lost her leg below the knee to sarcoma and quickly learned that the activewear prosthetic she needed to return to running, fitness, and the movement she loved was not covered by insurance. What many people do not realize is that activewear prosthetics are often considered “not medically necessary,” even though they can be life changing for amputees who want to run, walk, lift, bike, play with their children, or simply feel like themselves again.
Move For Jenn exists to bridge that gap.
Through activewear prosthetic grants, targeted sarcoma research, patient support, and advocacy, we are committed to fighting sarcoma while helping amputees keep moving.

Why Sarcoma Awareness Matters
Sarcoma may be rare, but its impact is life altering.
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 13,910 new soft tissue sarcoma cases and 4,110 new bone cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States in 2026. Behind every diagnosis is a person whose life changes in an instant. A parent. A child. An athlete. A friend. A coworker. A neighbor.
Sarcoma Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to educate others, honor those currently in treatment, remember those we have lost, celebrate survivors, and raise critical funds for better outcomes.
It also reminds us that awareness must lead to action.
For Move For Jenn, action looks like funding activewear prosthetic grants that help amputees regain strength, confidence, and independence. It looks like supporting research that moves us closer to better treatments and, one day, a cure. It looks like showing up for families navigating the overwhelming reality of a sarcoma diagnosis.
And it looks like inviting our community to move with us.
Join Us at the Pajamas All Day 5K on October 24
One of the most meaningful ways to support Move For Jenn is by joining us for our 7th annual Pajamas All Day 5K & Festival on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Blakeney Professional Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This year’s event will kick off at sunset and include the same heart, hope, and fun our community has come to know and love. Participants can run, walk, roll, or stroll in support of sarcoma patients, survivors, amputees, and the families who love them.
The event will include a 5K, fun run, DJ, sponsor and vendor expo, food vendors, activities for kids, raffles, adoptable animals, and more. You do not have to register for the 5K to enjoy the festival, but every registration helps support the mission of Move For Jenn.
At Move For Jenn, we believe movement should be accessible to everyone. That is why amputees participate for free. Amputees interested in registering can email kelsey@moveforjenn.org to receive a special promo code.
Whether you come in your coziest pajamas, bring your family, invite your coworkers, or walk in honor of someone you love, your presence matters.
