The Gift of Movement: Addie’s Story

At Move For Jenn, we believe movement is more than just physical activity. It is freedom, confidence, healing, and joy. It is the ability to feel like yourself again.

For 12-year-old Addie, movement has always meant one thing in particular: being on horseback.

Addie is strong, determined, and full of heart. She feels most at home in the saddle, where she can ride, connect, and simply be a kid. But over the past several months, her journey has taken an unexpected and incredibly challenging turn.

After being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, Addie endured intensive chemotherapy, a major surgery, and ongoing recovery. As part of her treatment, she underwent a rare amputation procedure called rotationplasty, a life-saving surgery that completely changed her physical path forward.

And yet, it never changed who she is.

Addie has continued to show incredible resilience. She is already back on her prosthetic leg, working every day to rebuild her strength. She is back on a horse. She is pushing forward. She is determined.

Because for Addie, movement is everything.

We are honored to share that Addie is our newest Move For Jenn grant recipient. Through this grant, she has received a Blatchford running blade, designed to help her return to the activities she loves most. Thank you to our longtime friend, Leon Owens, for helping to make this possible.

This is more than a prosthetic. It is an opportunity. It is possibility. It is a step toward running, jumping, riding, and simply being an active kid again.

At this year’s Move For Jenn Open on March 30, Addie was surprised with her new running blade surrounded by a community that believes in her. It was a powerful moment filled with joy, emotion, and a shared reminder of why we do this work.

Because of you, that moment was possible.

To our supporters, donors, and partners: thank you for helping us give the gift of movement to Addie. Your generosity continues to change lives in ways that go far beyond what words can express.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to our incredible sponsors who make moments like this possible. Your commitment fuels our mission and allows us to continue showing up for individuals like Addie.

And a heartfelt thank you to Providence Plastic Surgery for their continued support year after year. Your partnership means more than you know, and your belief in our mission continues to make a lasting impact.

Because of this community, Addie is not defined by her diagnosis. She is defined by her strength, her determination, and her ability to keep moving forward.

And at Move For Jenn, that is what it is all about.
