Meet Move For Jenn Grant Recipient, Landon Graham

Meet Landon: A Story of Strength, Hope, and a New Beginning

At the Move For Jenn Foundation, we believe that mobility is not just about movement—it’s about freedom, dignity, and the chance to reclaim joy after unimaginable challenges. This year, at our fourth annual Move For Jenn Open Powered by lululemon, we had the honor of presenting a Blatchford running blade to an incredible young warrior: Landon.

Landon’s story began like many others—a happy, energetic six-year-old finishing Kindergarten and soaking in the excitement of field day. But what started as a simple knee ache quickly turned into something far more serious. A few days later, a painful incident in the pool sent Landon’s family rushing to the pediatrician, where an X-ray revealed a tumor on his right distal femur—suspicious for osteosarcoma.

Within hours, Landon was in the Hematology Oncology clinic at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Brenner’s Children's Hospital, facing a new reality filled with MRIs, biopsies, and chemotherapy. Just days later, on June 19, 2024, the diagnosis was confirmed: High Grade Conventional Osteosarcoma.

Landon’s treatment plan was rigorous: chemotherapy, surgery, and more chemotherapy. In November, he underwent limb-sparing surgery, hoping to preserve his growth plate. Unfortunately, complications arose—a post-op infection and a failed allograft. Worse yet, cancer cells were still present at the surgical margin.

Determined to give Landon the best quality of life, his family and care team made the brave decision to pursue a rotationplasty—a life-changing procedure that removes the affected bone while preserving function through an innovative reconstruction using the ankle joint. On February 7, 2025, Dr. Eward at Duke performed the surgery, and Landon hasn’t looked back since.

Just two months later, on March 31, Landon completed chemotherapy, and on April 3, he rang the bell—marking the end of a long and difficult chapter. With the help of physical therapy, Landon took his first steps in six months on April 30. His resilience is nothing short of inspiring.

The Move For Jenn Foundation was proud to support Landon and his family by gifting him a running blade to help him return to the active, joyful life he loves. This gift, made possible through the generosity of our community and supporters, represents so much more than a piece of equipment—it’s a symbol of empowerment and a future full of possibility.

To Landon’s family, thank you for letting us be part of this journey. Your strength reminds us why we do what we do. And to Landon—your courage lights the way for so many others walking a similar path.

We are honored to walk, run, and move beside you. 💙
