Meet Skylar Scarnecchia
Meet our friend, Skylar Scarnecchia!
We'll be going live on Instagram with Skylar on April 7 at 1pm EST. As of March 24, Skylar is cancer free!
When Skylar was 10, she was diagnosed with stage four synovial sarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, in her right foot. After three months of chemotherapy with little to no change in the size of her tumor, Skylar's doctor recommend amputation. At first, Skyler did not think much about the amputation, and even said, "Hey, that’s one less foot I have to clip toenails on."
Skylar had a below the knee amputation of her right leg in December of 2016. She was fitted for a prosthetic leg, which she named Felicia, and began physical therapy. Skylar, a natural athlete and lover of basketball, was more than ready to get back out on the court after taking a year off after her surgery.
Skylar has now also taken up golf and is loving her time on her wheelchair basketball team. She has dreams of playing wheelchair basketball in college and hopes to be part of the U.S. Paralympic team!
Join us live on Instagram this Thursday, April 7 at 1pm as we talk with Skylar in celebration of Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month!
