Move For Jenn Open 2023
Thank you to everyone who supported the second annual Move For Jenn Open that took place on Monday, May 22 at TPC Piper Glen. Because of your support, we were able to raise over $131,000 to help support the sarcoma community! We cannot wait to share more about where these funds will go.
We are incredibly grateful for our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, board members, staff, and everyone who helped to make the second annual Move For Jenn Open such a success. We're thrilled to announce that the tournament raised over $131,000!
144 golfers, 32 sponsors, and more than 30 volunteers came together to #MoveBecauseWeCan on Monday, May 22 at TPC Piper Glen in support of the Move For Jenn Foundation. The mission of the Move For Jenn Foundation is to offer grants in the form of activewear prosthetics to those who have suffered the loss of a limb to sarcoma or other affiliated diseases. Since most activewear prosthetics are not covered by insurance, the foundation bridges the financial gap to allow amputees to get back to the physical activities they enjoyed prior to amputation.
Not only was the day filled with fun and fundraising, it was also filled with surprises. The foundation was able to grant Charlotte local and sarcoma amputee, Cortney Robateau, with a new Fillauer Running Blade!
Cortney, who is also local to Charlotte, connected with Jenn through their oncologist, Dr. Patt with Atrium Health. The two immediately formed a bond and kept in touch as Cortney faced her own amputation due to sarcoma.
“It was an incredibly heartwarming moment. Giving surprise grants at our events is one of the absolute best parts of doing what we do. We are so grateful for this community who continues to support the Move For Jenn Foundation so we can continue to support those who need us,” says Move For Jenn Co-Founder, Jenn Andrews.
Cortney said, "Stunned, shocked, elated, astonished, grateful. These are just a few words that come to mind. This morning at the @moveforjenn Open golf tournament, I was shockingly presented with a running blade by my surgeon, Dr. Joshua Patt and @moveforjenn founder, @_jennandrews. To say I was surprised is an understatement. Myself and Nick shed many tears today. This was such an unexpected gift. I am beyond grateful to @moveforjenn for this incredible and life-changing day."
The funds raised from the Move For Jenn Open will help us continue our mission to provide activewear prosthetic grants to sarcoma amputees, fund sarcoma-specific research, and support those diagnosed with sarcoma through our advocacy program.
