Discovering cancer early many times allows for more treatment options. Some cancers have symptoms that are noticeable, and others do not. It’s very rare that an MRI of a soft tissue mass will be concerning, and that you’ll be referred to a specialist for treatment and evaluation. However, some sarcomas go unrecognized and are only diagnosed after an unintended excision.
Discovering new skin lumps or bumps on your body can be worrisome and many times be met with a range of emotions from anxiety (“Oh no, it must be cancer!”) to complete denial (“It’s probably nothing or has been there for a while”). Being able to identify skin cancer symptoms is important. Learn why from Atrium Health's Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Joshua Patt, MD, MPH, FAOA.
Renee Schreibman, a local wellness coach, serves on the Move for Jenn Foundation board. “Jenn is just unstoppable. She’s a warrior who just wants to turn something really bad into something really good — to be able to show people that you can rise up from that. She’s just a role model,” Schreibman says.
Jenn Andrews was a health and wellness coach when, getting a pedicure, had her life change forever. Pregnant with her first child, her pedicurist noticed a pea-sized lump on her right foot. She had a physician look at it after the pedicurist found it. Little to Jenn’s knowledge, it turned out to be a benign cyst that grew bigger over time.
Jenn Andrews was recently interviewed on herSarcoma storyand featured in the FACES of the South website for starting a non-profit, Move For Jenncancer foundation, with her husband Miles after her life-changing event of discovering she had a canceroussarcoma tumorin her foot while getting a pedicure.
What a great day of MOVING for a great cause! A big thank you to Burn Boot Camp Concord for hosting today's event and supporting our mission to fight sarcoma!
I feel the most important thing when going through cancer treatment is the support of family and friends along with the power of prayer. Their love and faith can help you stay positive as you fight your battle.
I was originally diagnosed in 2015. It wasn’t until 2017-2018 that it was pinpointed as a sarcoma. There still is no definitive cell type- only that it is some kind of sarcoma.
